Frequently Asked Questions
Our masks our sold to many types of customers to filter out different types of particulates in the air: people with allergies (pollen, mold, dust, haze), dog groomers (dander, nail dust, hair), lawn and garden workers (dust, mold, pollen), woodworkers (wood particles), travelers (germs and flu viruses), people with COPD and asthma (various allergens, cold air), soldiers (dirt and dust), and patients with weakened immune systems (germs).
It is recommended that our masks be hand washed using a non-allergenic laundry detergent (not dish washing detergent as many contain natural or synthetic bleach that can fade the mask and possibly negate the anti-microbial defense). Should you elect to wash the mask in a washing machine, care should be taken as the “slamming” of the mask against the metal sides may damage the slides. It is therefore recommended that the mask be placed in a pillow case or delicate bag when electing to wash by machine. Allow to air dry as the dryer heat will cause the mask to shrink over a period of time, and “slamming” the heated slides of the mask against the wall of the dryer will cause the adjustable slides to break). Regarding our cold weather reversible fleece masks, hand wash with a non-allergenic laundry detergent and allow to air dry.
That question depends on the frequency of use, type of use, and personal preference of the mask wearer. Dust masks used for long periods of time in very dusty environments may need to be washed daily. On the other hand, if the mask is used occasionally, and you dont see any accumulation of dust/debris on the liner, it may only require washing every month or so.
Our BreatheHealthy Reusable Masks are not N95. The ‘N95’ designation means that when subjected to careful testing, a mask blocks at least 95% of very small (0.3 micron) test particles. BreatheHealthy masks are certified to be effective to filter about 60% of 1 micron particles based on Nelson lab tests.
In a haze situation, the haze particles are in high concentration in the air around you. As long as you breathe in air without any prior filtration, the particles gets into your body. While the N95 masks are recommended for severe haze, it is important to understand that the 95% filtration ability of the mask is only possible if you have a tight seal of the mask on your face. Anyone wearing an N95 mask without tightly sealing the edge to the face is effectively not getting much protection as the air are entering from the sides of the mask.
During the haze situation in Asia, many of our Asian customers have found that it is very effective for haze situation and much more usable than regular disposable N95 masks. Breathe Healthy masks are designed to be very easy to use, they are so soft and automatically “moulds” around your face every time you put them on. Together with the Coneg Certified padded nose form, you can get an effective seal over your face without much effort. As the masks regulates humidity, most of our customers find that they can have their Breathe Healthy masks on for long periods of time without discomfort.
Our customers also consists of people who find N95 unsuitable for them such as people with respiratory issues, pregnant women and young children. These group of people in particular often find it difficult to breathe using an N95 mask.
The added bonus is that our masks comes in many designs to suit different taste. And since it is washable and reusable, it frees you from the worry of running out of masks.
The anti-microbial property is permanently bonded with our mask fabric and should last as long as the fabric stays in tag. Effective levels of the technology do not diminish overtime even after repeated rinsing. (Abrasive or caustic (pH>10.5) solutions will shorten the effective life of the AEGIS Microbe Shield)
